Goodbye, Tricia E. Black aka teb
About a year ago, I posted about a “new” skin cancer gene and mentioned Tricia E. Black’s blog – teb’s page. She’d been told in May 2005 that she had stage IV melanoma, which was a recurrence from a first encounter in high school.
From The Indiana Lawyer:
In a blog entry posted the day she learned the news, Black’s attitude and strength was apparent. “There’s no way to make this pill easy to swallow. So we won’t swallow it,” she wrote. “We’re going to fight tooth and nail for every minute, day, week, month, year. We’re going to look this awful demon in the face and stare it down. We’re going to know that even if at the end of the day it takes my body and my physical presence from the world and people I love, it will never, EVER take my spirit.”
Tricia passed away on July 11, 2006 leaving behind a toddler son, husband, family, and a legion of supporters at Teb’s Troops, an organization she and law school classmates founded to support those involved in the treatment, prevention, and research of cancer, including melanoma.

Oh my god. She was 29.
I think she’d already turned 30 but doesn’t matter, does it?
