Google Gene Search?

This week, I’ve been having some fun with Google Book Search; looking for phrases that pop into my head to see if there’s anything insightful in any of the scanned books online.

And, as usual, Google is one step ahead. In an excerpt from The Google Story by David Vise, Sergey Brin of Google, Craig Venter of Celera Genomics, Ryan Phelan of DNA Direct, and other scientists apparently talked about creating an online gene catalog. If these rumors are true, this wealth of genetic data could be a boon for amateur and professional researchers alike.
