Gorilla Heart Disease

Strictly speaking, A Hearty Life is supposed to be a blog about human health, but I had no idea that heart disease is a major cause of death among gorillas in captivity. A 23-year-old gorilla at the Washington DC National Zoo died yesterday during heart surgery to implant a pacemaker-like device.
