Grape Seed Extract May Inhibit Colorectal Cancer
A recent mice study has demonstrated that grape seed extract can inhibit advanced colorectal tumors by up to 44%. The authors found that it increases availability of a critical protein, Cip1/p21, in tumors that effectively freezes the cell cycle, and often pushes a cancer cell to self destruct.
All these results are still preliminary and the authors do NOT recommend grape seed extract as a treatment for colorectal cancer at this point. Nothing is known about appropriate dosages and potential side effects, although grape seed extract is already marketed as a dietary supplement, supposedly for its antioxidant and blood cholesterol lowering properties.
