Graphic Novels – More Than Comics

When I first heard the term “graphic novels, “ I thought it meant something that was very vivid and undesirable, something like warnings on movies. However, I soon realized, as my grandson developed an enjoyment of reading these books with many illustrations, that graphic novels often enticed readers who otherwise were reluctant to open a “book.”
This is a rapidly growing segment of book publishing and has great appeal among readers. Our local children’s librarian said this is a very popular section of the library and a rapidly growing one. My granddaughter even found graphic novels of Shakespeare’s plays in the library.
- Do your children have favorite graphic novels?
- Do you use graphic novels in school or for home schooling assignments?
- Do you like to read graphic novels?
- What is your opinion of them for young and older readers?
