Green Your Pets for Earth Day

This Earth Day (April 22), take a few minutes to consider how you can lessen your pet’s environmental footprint. You might choose to green your litter disposal or switch to a natural cat litter or even organic pet food.

c96-blu-rainbowOne easy change to make is choosing pet beds and toys made by environmentally aware companies.

I can think of no better example than West Paw Design. They use organic cotton for their bumper bed line and c92-esp_barnmousereclaimed cotton for their dog sweaters. Their catnip (used in toys like those pictured) is USDA certified organic, and they utilize recycled plastic (called IntelliLoft) in many of their products. West Paw Design also focuses on eliminating waste during the manufacturing process.

Even with all your green shopping, please remember that the most eco-friendly thing you can do in the pet world is to have your cat or dog spayed or neutered. That simple step will not only eliminate needless suffering, but will also help save our resources.
