Greetings from no sleep Monday

bed.gifEvery now and then, you have a really, really late night, yet you have to go to work the next morning.

I had to go out of town yesterday, and, decided to make the trip back last night instead of staying in a hotel, and, I got home around 1:30 am to find my husband working in the basement (don’t ask), and, my middle child up wandering around because he has a cold, and, couldn’t sleep.

So, not only was I up late myself, I had to deal with a child, the kitchen, and, other tasks for Monday morning that didn’t seem to get done.

Not much sleep was had at our house last night, and, the feeling is a bit reminiscent of having a new baby in the house.

I was originally scheduled to come into work late today, but, since I have to take the kids to school, I just went on and got ready to go to work despite the temptation to go back home and sleep.

Even when I am completely beat, and still have to go to work, I tend to do better if I just follow my regular schedule, and, make things as normal as possible. I might have an extra cup of coffee, and, I may have to take a couple of walks to stay awake, but, the quicker I get our schedule back on track the easier it is to recover.

    Exactly the same as you – get back into the normal groove as quickly as possible. This particularly applies when we fly back across the Atlantic from summer holidays and the time change hits us in the back of the head. The knack is not to go to bed and sleep just because your body thinks it’s still 1am – keep vertical, keep moving and hopefully things click into place. Or you fall over. One or the other.

    Same here. The more I disrupt my personal schedule, the longer it takes me to recover.

    I would take a mental day off and then after the day was over dive head first into my usual routine.

    Try not to spend too much time sitting in front of my computer.

    I’m lost when I don’t stick to my schedule… though I do wish the King of Everything would sleep past 7AM on Saturday morning. It’s no fair, he won’t get up to go to school, but when it’s the weekend? PARTY!
