As we head into summer grilling season, the Denver-based National Cattlemen’s Beef Association offers a few tips on making your grilled food taste its best. The number one tip is to avoid charring or burning your food.

Among their suggestions are:
* Opting for lean, well-trimmed cuts of meat and poultry to prevent fire flare-ups and excess smoke.
* Trimming any remaining visible fat, and choosing lean cuts of meat.
* Marinating meat for added flavor and tenderness.
* Turning beef occasionally for even cooking and browning.
* Cutting off any burnt or charred pieces before eating should minimal overcooking occur.
