Gucci Hosts Reception To Benefit UNICEF

Gwen Stefani and husband Gavin Rossdale have had another baby boy today. And they’ve named him Zuma Nesta Rock Rossdale. For some reason it makes me think of a weird alcopop tea combo.

No word on where the name came from or what it even means (I think we can figure out the “Rock” part). I admit I love the name of their first son, Kingston, but… not so crazy about this one!

  1. Lex says:

Maybe they named him after Zuma Beach in California. I kind of like it.

There’s a rock in the Nigerian capital, Abuja. The name is Zuma Rock. Could be from that.

  3. Heather says:

Good catch, Bim! And “Nesta” was Bob Marley’s middle name as well, so that makes a little more sense.

Sorry, can’t say I’m that into the name… do people not think about what their kid will have to go through growing up with some of the crazy names out there today? I remember I hated growing up with my name – it wasn’t so common when I was little. I can appreciate it now, but it’s still not as crazy or unusual as some of the others out there!

  5. Coco and Apple are examples of some of the weird names celebrities have come up with. Sometimes I wonder if there’s a contest to see who can come up with the most unusual name.

It’s their kid, so they can name him whatever they want. However, as a teacher, I know the ridicule that comes from naming your kids strange names. The Nesta name is awfully close to Nestea. So, I can see him being teased and people calling him tea, Nestea, etc. I can see people calling him “Zoom, Zoom, Zoom” instead of Zuma, but I guess that’s not that bad. I’ve heard worse.
