Over as CFS-Squared Laura has been losing her hair and recently had to take 4-1/2 inches off. Back in May I talked a little about CFS and hair loss. There are many non-genetic factors that can contribute to hair loss, and CFS can touch on many of them.
Stress.
Hormone imbalance.
High fever.
The list could be expanded.
As if there wasn’t enough to deal with, now you have to pick a new hair-style. Or, if you’re really lucky, you get do skip hair-styles altogether and go hat shopping.

Hi Cory,
thanks for the introduction. I don’t know a whole lot about hair loss ~ except that it generally happens when I get really sick. This last episode though, has caused a big concern….I have spent a great deal of time searching for hats lately.
I plan on spending a whole lot of time, lurking on your blog.
thanks again!!!
Laura,
The three big causes of hair loss are genetics, stress and a whacked out endocrine/immune system. I suppose it’s possible that you might have hit the trifecta.
Chin up! We’re a big fan of bald women around here, as our obsession with Ms. Porter evidences.
I am not bald….not quite yet, anyway. I have noticed that when I start feeling better, I lose way less hair.
When you mentioned that fever could cause hair loss, that totally rang true with me….with the latest bout of mono, my fever was so high, that the only way i could bring it down, was to wrap myself in very cold wet towels. it was at this time, when my hair started falling out.
I will be reading your posts about Gail Porter closely.
Thanks, you have already made me feel much better about this thing thats been happening with me.
…and I’ve got another reason to keep writing this blog.
It’s nice to find a blog about CFS and hair loss. I got mono in October which turned into chronic fatigue, and my hair has been shedding like crazy ever since.
