Halloween Emergency Kit

For parents who plan to walk around with their little trick or treaters, a Halloween safety kit is a great idea. Putting the kit together ahead of time helps parents make sure they have everything they need when they are walking down the street with their kids.

An ideal kit includes:
- An extra flashlight and a few extra glow sticks. I was surprised by how dark it was last year and I really wanted extra glow sticks to give to a little girl and her brother who were walking around in areas without a sidewalk dressed as Dracula and a witch. I could barely see them walking up to me and imagining them running into the road…
- Duct tape and a sewing needle and thread. Being able to tape a mask’s elastic back in place between houses can help you avoid a lot of brokenhearted sobbing from an unmasked super hero. A needle and thread can come in handy for missing buttons or falling hemlines.
- Bandages and other basic first aid items. There are a lot of uneven sidewalks out there!
- Extra treat sack. It always seems like a handle breaks or a hole gets torn in the bottom of a bag. Being able to whip out a second sack is so nice.
- Make up for touch ups.
- Water or juice boxes for kids to stay hydrated with.
- Hand warmers in case it is a chilly day.
