Halloween Links for Procrastinators (like me)
Are you ready for Halloween? Or you a huge procrastinator like some people (ok, me). Well I’m here to help you out. Here’s a list of Halloween links to get you ready for Friday. Yes, Friday. You have three days to get your pumpkins, costumes, crafts and treats ready. You better start today.
- My kids and I decided to forgo the carving and instead got Mr. Potato Head pumpkin decorating kits. The were easy to put together, didn’t have any mess, and they look so cute.
- Don’t want to buy Mr. Potato parts? Then paint your pumpkins. Use your imagination and be creative.
- Or you could cut out facial features from a magazine for some freaky faces.
- Another option is a Whack-o-lantern. You still have to carve the pumpkin, but then you can just pound holes in it.
- Here’s a cute idea; the mum-ie family. Carve pumpkins to look like members of your family and fill them with pretty flowers for hair.
- Use a cool pumpkin stencil.
- Or make your own stencil.
- Even better, get political with your pumpkin. Carve your pumpkin to look like Obama or McCain.
Costumes:

- You could go old school and buy costumers. That’s what we did for our three younger kids. But store bought costumes can be expensive.
- For our teens we just got them wigs; an afro and a mullet. They’re on their own to figure out the rest of their costume.
- You could make your own inexpensive costume with things you already have around the house.
- And frugal costume ideas.
- Or use a pattern to make a costume.
- Go as some kind of food like bacon or an egg.
- Just go with a mask like this fantasy mask.
- Go simple with a Halloween t-shirt.
Crafts:
- Check out these cute Pumpkin rolls made with toilet paper.
- How about a few bat-o-lanterns for the kitchen table?
- Make a spider bag for trick-or-treating.
- Create your own pumpkin earrings to wear to school on Friday.
- Halloween’s not complete without some tissue paper bats. And these actually fly.
Recipes:
- I love this melon brain.
- They go nicely with these creepy carrot fingers.
- And for dinner try some sandwiches. Either these coffin ham sandwiches or these spooky tuna sandwiches.
- If the kids want pizza try Jack-o-lantern pizza or Halloween cheese pizza.
- Or tempt the kids with these spooky eyeball tacos.
- Try these monster toes for a party appetizer.
- Or Graveyard Crunch for a snack.
- Like spiders? Try these spooky spider recipes.
- How about ghostly marshmallows for desert.
- For a little bit healthier treat these ghostly pears.
- Or try these yummy looking spider cakes.
- Not in to spiders. Then make these freaky eyeball cupcakes.
- We’re going to try this ghost toast.
- Don’t forget the traditional caramel apples.
- Make your own ghostly candy.
Now you don’t have any more excuses. Get on the ball and get ready for Halloween.

Heard a couple of cute costume ideas on the radio (93.9 .. the Lite in Chicago)
1) Bubble Gum: Dress all in pink and stick a shoe to your head.
2) Freudian Slip: Wear a slip with pictures of Sigmund Freud all over it (and let people try and guess who it is
