Trying to find pain relief without medications can be an exercise in futility for many people who are living with chronic pain. There may be hope yet. A new hand-held machine, called the PainShield MD Device, to be used by patients has now been approved by the American FDA. According to the manufacturer’s press release,
"PainShield is the first hands-free, patch-based diathermy device, thus allowing for an entirely new dimension in ultrasound treatment of pain and soft tissue healing. The PainShield consists of a disposable patch connected to a portable reusable driver and generates ultrasound waves to the desired area of the body."
The director of the Diabetic Foot Service at Shaarei Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem, Israel, is currently conducting a clinical trial to determine the effectiveness of the PainShield MD for treating painful foot ulcers resulting from diabetes.

It seems that ultrasound is very effective in reducing pain. About an hour age I came across another device for pain management, approved by FDA, called NanoVibronix. Now I wonder is PainShield just another name for the device or a different product. Anyway this should be great, if thу device also can be effective treating other diseases, like foot ulcers.
