Happy Anniversary Help My Hurt!

December 20, 2008 by Marijke Durning, RN

Win an Amazon gift certificate to celebrate our 1 year anniversary!

One year ago, yesterday, my first post for Help My Hurt was published: A New Look for a New Year at Help My Hurt.

I had been happily blogging away on my own blog when I decided to take on something I knew a good bit about, both personally and professionally, pain.  I introduced myself and why I felt I could blog on the topic of pain in this post, What makes me an authority on pain?. And, over the year, I shared my complaints and experiences with personal pain from when I had shingles and pleurisy to my new problem of a torn rotator cuff – caused by chipping stucco off dining room walls, no less!

The blog has grown steadily with its readers. I have several regular readers and many "drive bys" who find Help My Hurt through search engines when they’re looking for something in particular. And, I’m fairly happy with how things are going. But the one thing, for the life of me, is I can’t figure out how to get all of you who read this blog to leave comments!

I know you’re out there. I see you in my stats. So, why do I feel like I’m talking to a wall sometimes? I mean, I’m used to talking to myself, that’s not a problem. I would so much like hear about what you think when you read the posts. I just remembered (AGAIN) that someone asked for more about shingles and neuralgia. I promise I’ll get to that.

Ok, so I’m going to have another contest and it’s going to run over two weeks. This contest will be for a 25 dollar gift certificate to Amazon.com. How does that sound? But, and this is a big but…. you have to leave a comment on a post somewhere on this blog and then post here that you left one and where. That’s all I ask. Go find a particular post you like, leave a comment on it, whether you agree, disagree, have another opinion, whatever. Then, come back to this post and write where you left your comment.

At the end of the day, midnight, EST, on Saturday, January 3, the contest closes and the next day, on the 4th, I will enter all the names of people who qualify, into a randomizer, and choose a winner.

So, let’s go! Remember, follow the rules or you won’t qualify!

I’ve spent the past 18 months getting up the courage to start acually working on a layout for mine this weekend so I can start. Amazing…I can jump out of a plane with parachute being the only thing to sustain me, but start a blog…ummm ask me next week.
