Happy Grandparents Day!

grandparentsday1.jpg I’m not normally one for made up holidays (OK, most holidays are “made up”), but, Grandparents Day sounded pleasant enough, so, I’ll wish a Happy Grandparents Day to those who celebrate.

Grandparent’s Day has been celebrated the first Sunday after Labor Day in the United States each year, and, it was proclaimed a National Holiday by President Jimmy Carter in 1978.

It was originally created to champion the cause of nursing home residents, but, it has developed into a day to honor all Grandparents.

My husband and i like to joke about what kind of sandwiched we are on any given day. Sometimes i feel like a corned beef on rye, and others like a PB&J.
Papa (my father-in-law) has been living with us for almost 5 years, and had moderate dementia….when people ask how many kids i have, i answer…4. Daughter 6, Son 12, Hubby 39 and Papa 87. And on some days I am not sure who is worse!

I am glad I found this site…it has brought a smile to my very tired face!
