Happy Thanksgiving and Don’t Forget Buy Nothing Day

I’d just like to take a moment to wish all my American readers a Happy Thanksgiving before you all take off for your long weekend.
Of course, with the US Thanksgiving holiday also comes the infamous Black Friday, the busiest shopping day of the year in that part of the world.
What better day than this to also observe Buy Nothing Day, a celebration originated by the Adbusters organization for those of us who are fed up with our consumer-centric society, This is our chance to take 24 hours off and not participate in what some of us believe is an unhealthy economy. This is a chance to not contribute to the environmental and ethical consequences of consumerism for one day along with thousands (millions?) of like-minded souls.
If you’re not familiar with Buy Nothing Day and what it represents, here’s some more information for you. The North American web site for BND is available here courtesy of Adbusters, and for folks in the UK, here’s the site for you. The UK site also has links to the sites for many other countries.
Happy Thanksgiving, folks!

Happy Thanksgiving! (May I sell on Buy Nothing Day?)
Hey Roberto – Whether to sell on Buy Nothing Day? Like anything else in life, that’s entirely up to you. If you believe in what BND stands for then it’s something to consider.
I actually read a couple of days ago (can’t find the references now) that there are a few green/eco retailers on line who are going to shut down their stores for the day.
Have a great weekend, Roberto.
