Have you been told you can’t have a VBAC?

Many women who have C-sections feel that they would like having a VBAC, or vaginal birth after C-section. In many cases, this is possible, providing that the pregnancy following the C-section goes smoothly and the labor is going well.
Unfortunately, because of the ever increasing risk of being sued, many doctors don’t want to do VBACs and – some are more economically minded and prefer to know when they need to be around and they can time C-sections much more easily. For this reason, even without a medical reason for discouraging VBACs, some doctors are just refusing to do them.
I found this article at Midwifery Today, 50 Ways to Protest a VBAC Denial, which you may find interesting.

I have five children. The first three were normal vaginal deliveries. The fourth (ahem… 10 lbs. 4 oz) was a c-section. When I got pregnant with our fifth, our doctor said, “So, we’ll schedule you for a c-section in late June…”
I said, “What?!”
I’d known about the VBAC controversy for years but I never thought my doctor would refuse to allow one!
I ended up firing him and hiring a doctor in the next town (45 minutes away).
Seems the doc AND the hospital here don’t allow VBACs. Well, why should they? They make WAY more money on c-sections than they do on hospital births!
I’m happy to say Mason was born vaginally with no VBAC complications whatever…and no drugs, either!

Sorry. Meant to type vaginal births, not hospital births.
