Have you got your summer holidays all planned out?
Already, I feel I’ve missed the boat. Summer vacation is a few months away and I feel like I’ve left it too long. I’m putting it off because oh my goodness, but it’s expensive. I think it’s going to cost me about $4000 to put my kid in camp for ten weeks this summer. You better believe it’s going to be good.
Since his father is French, there’s the French camp, with immersion programs in the language. And since he loves science, I’m hoping to send him to the Smithsonian’s summer camp. He does love sports, so if there’s a soccer camp for four year olds, we can always have fun there, and then there’s always that general campus of fun kind of camp where you do a little bit of everything.
But honestly? I suspect that my son’s favorite camp is going to be Camp Grammy.
What are your plans this summer?

I heard a bunch of women are going to go try to synchronize their ovulations together in Chicago. You game?
Well, we’re still kind of waiting for Spring, here in Central Maine, so I haven’t given summer vacation much thought. But since my kids are unschoolers, summer vacation will be more of what we do everyday. Lots of talking, reading, video games, Net surfing, swamp tours and walks in the woods and fields around our house. Trips to VT and NH as finances allow. Maybe some camping with friends and trips to the ocean for picnics. Museums, art galleries, fairs, picking organic berries at farms and cooking them up into pies. It’s all good and now you’ve got me looking forward to summer and it’s snowing lightly outside as I type this.
Lill
Lill, that sounds wonderful!
I’ve got to sit down with a calendar and plan it out. Sigh. The life of a corporate mom.
Madame, I’m trying to figure it out. Might just work, you know?
