Having Fun with Snowflakes

Still snowed in? Kids bored during holiday break? I have found some fun ways to make snowflakes – online, paper, and the real thing! This is also a fun activity for showing kids that while no two snowflakes are ever alike – each one is so beautiful.

make your own snowflake

This is a snowflake I made using the online, virtual snowflake maker, Make-a-Flake. Once you get the hang of it, it is really addictive! Cut to your heart’s content and don’t worry about cleaning up all the little paper scraps!

Snowflake

Creating your own snowflakes on Zefrank is as easy as clicking your mouse. You can even put them in to motion – both 2-D and 3-D.

Noggin has an easy version for younger kids to play with.

Grow your own snow crystals – a fun, hands on science activity.  These are alternative directions.

And how about some patterns for paper snowflakes (personally, I prefer the free form method).

Have fun!!
