Having house guests when you have to go to work
Holidays and summer often mean house guests.
I love to have guests, and, I enjoy making them feel at home, but, at the same time, it can be hard to really visit with someone when you still have to perform your regular household routines, and, deal with the kids.
Since my husband and my kids are out of school for the summer, it’s especially difficult when you have to get up the next morning to go to work, and, your vacationer doesn’t.
Now, I’ve never had a guest who expected me to stay up late with them on a weeknight, it’s just that I enjoy visiting with people, and, I don’t want to miss anything, and, sometimes I go to great lengths to not let work get in the way of my life.
Then, I also feel bad when I have to be gone the entire work day. Of course, if it’s a special occasion, I will try to take a couple of days off, but, we have drop-in guests sometimes, and, that’s not always possible.
So, I usually end up talking myself into staying up too late, and, then I have to launch the Fatigue at Work Plan.
