Health Canada Recalls Fentanyl Transdermal Pain Patches

February 18, 2008 by Marijke Durning, RN
Filed under Diseases & Conditions

Health Canada is advising Canadians not to use 25 mcg/hr Duragesic (fentanyl transdermal system) patches (Janssen-Ortho Inc.) and 25 mcg/hr Ran Fentanyl Transdermal System patches (Ranbaxy). The manufacturers are voluntarily recalling Duragesic and Ran Fentanyl Transdermal System 25 mcg/hr patches as it is possible they may have a cut along one side, raising the risk of the fentanyl gel leaking from the patch.

This follows the FDA recall of late last week: Recall: DURAGESIC, 25 mcg/hr (fentanyl transdermal system) CII Pain Patches.
