Healthbolt talks about phantom pain

Phantom limb pain is one of those not-yet-understood medical problems. After someone loses a limb, they may still feel pain, discomfort, or even itching in what used to be there.
My brother was born with 6 toes on each foot; he had two big toes on each. He had the extra ones amputated when he was about 2 years old, if I remember correctly. On one foot, the extra toe had bone, on the other, it didn’t. I remember him complaining of pain – as an adult – in that missing toe, the one that had the bone.
Anyway, there’s an interesting post about a new treatment for phantom limb pain over Healthbolt if you want to read more about it: Phantom Pain in Amputees: A Strange Phenomenon and a Strange New Treatment.

Thanks for the mention, Marijke. It’s interesting that you know someone who’s experienced phantom pain firsthand. What an odd sensation that must be for those poor people.
By the way, you’re doing an amazing job over here. Keep up the great work!
