Heart Disease in Women

Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska wrote about heart disease in women today in The Hill, “the newspaper for and about the U.S. Congress.” She is introducing the Heart Disease Education, Analysis, Research and Treatment (HEART) for Women Act , a bipartisan federal legislation focusing on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease in women.
The legislation would raise awareness about cardiovascular disease in women and provide training for healthcare providers, tighten FDA requirements for reporting gender-based data about new and experimental medicines and devices and expand the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s WISEWoman free screening programs for low-income, uninsured women at risk for heart disease and stroke to all 50 states.
Hooray! I hope millions of American women benefit and are able to live a hearty life.
