b5media has set up, “Heart Matters,” charity donation drive with the American Heart & Stroke Association during the month of February, American Heart Health month.
Why should Alzheimer’s Notes be concerned about heart health? Many Alzheimer’s victims do have some form of heart condition. Often their deteriorating memory can be a combination of stroke, TIAs (transient ischemic attach) and Alzheimer’s.
It appeared that my mother suffered from tia’s, sometimes called “mini strokes.” These are caused by insufficient blood supply to the brain. The victim may be unable to speak for awhile or will have very slurred speech. It also can cause weakness, inability to walk well (due to slight paralysis), and dizziness. Generally these symptoms last only a short time, but they can be a signal that a stroke could happen.
