Heart of Sailing

September 17, 2006 by Kristina Chew, PhD

When Charlie was younger, I used to not be so sure about having Charlie participate in organizations that were specifically for disabled children. Should we not strive to have him included in as many activities with typical children as possible?

As Charlie has gotten older, we have become more than grateful for organizations like the Challenger League for t-ball—-and we were thrilled to find out about Heart of Sailing and to meet its founder and executive director, George Saidah, yesterday—and to see Charlie at the helm of the No “Ah’s” Arc. Charlie loved being on the water and we are already looking forward to his next sailing adventure.

If you live in the Pacific Northwest—specifically, in Bellingham, WA, or Vancouver, BC—-Heart of Sailing is coming your way in October!

He is a bigger fan than ever now that he’s actually “played” the game.

  2. Charlie used to play in one—-I am looking for programs like it in our new town. Go El Grande!
