Heart Recipient Marries Donor’s Wife

Cheryl Cottle and Sonny Graham will be celebrating their second wedding anniversary on December 8th. What’s special about them? In 1995, Cheryl’s then-husband, Terry, died and Sonny received his heart.
The decision to take Terry off life support and donate his organs was difficult, she said, and it wasn’t until she met Sonny that she knew the decision was the right one.
“It helped me so much,” Cheryl said. “Meeting Sonny made it easier for me, knowing something so good came from something so bad.”
Some might also believe that Sonny has taken on some of Terry’s spirit. At least both men share their love for Cheryl.
