According to a press release issued by BMJ – British Medical Journal, Heavy birthweight babies twice as likely to develop rheumatoid arthritis,Heavy birthweight female babies are twice as likely to develop rheumatoid arthritis in adulthood as their average birthweight peers, suggests research published ahead of print in the Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases.”

The information was obtained in a large study of women, so I don’t know if they plan on doing something on men. My oldest son was born at 9 lbs, 4 oz, which is under the study’s finding of 10 pounds and over being the risk factor. But what about babies who were born early but were heavier than one would expect. My other two children were born two weeks early and they weighed in at 7 lbs 12 oz each. that’s big for two weeks early.
