Help, I Can’t Twitter!

Twitter and Facebook hit a major snafu today, and it reminded me of how much I now rely on them for communication. Both applications have become a mainstay in my daily life for both ways to promote my writing and network with other writers. But since I work at home, they are also a great way to stay in touch in people. Working at home is great but when it’s just “you” alone all day sometimes it can get lonely.

Twitter was apparently hacked into on Thursday morning. It said it was, “defending against a denial-of-service attack” which prevented Twitter traffic from getting through to the main site. It’s scary to note that a service we all use so much (and by “we all” I mean corporations, athletes, bloggers, and everyone in between) can become derailed so much by a hacker attack.
One source says that Twitter had “20.1 million unique visitors in the United States in June, some 34 times the 593,000 a year earlier.” That incredible growth is bound to make things a little shaky.
Will Twitter be here for good? Who knows? But for now, at least I can Tweet again!
