Herbal Remedies for Tinnitis

When you can hear bells ring and you know that you are not in love you may be suffering from tinnitus. Actually it doesn’t have to be bells, there are all sorts of sounds associated with tinnitus:

  • Ringing
  • Buzzing
  • Chirping like crickets
  • Hissing
  • Buzzing
  • Heartbeat
  • Others

The most common cause of tinnitus is prolonged exposure to loud sound.  remember all those Mott the Hoople songs you listened to on your quad stereo at top volume? O.k….that was me…but you get the idea.

Herbal medicines can be used to help with this problem.  You will probably need to experiment to see what is going ot work best for you.  Give each herb a full month before you decide it’s not working, though, they take time to reach full effectiveness.

The best, and most common remedy is a combination of Ginkgo Biloba and Black Cohosh.  Make sure you are getting the full dose of each (at least 50 mg of the Ginkgo).  Don’t ever take Black Cohosh if you are pregnant or nursing.

If, after a month, you aren’t getting good results, try adding Goldenseal for three weeks.  After three weeks stop the Goldenseal for two weeks and then start up again.  If you have good results with that just remember that the Goldenseal is three weeks on/two weeks off.

Another thing you should do is to stay away from aspirin, white willow and anything that has salicylic acid in it.

Tinnitus does not cause hearing loss, although it can be associated with it.  It is just more irritating than anything.
