Here’s My Story And I’m Stickin’ To It

dsc01364.JPGIt’s been a while since I have written about my own life with diabetes. I think I am like a moon, I wax and wane. I will have 3 good weeks where my body responds wonderfully to my diet and then a week or so where it seems not to matter what I do. And yes you guessed it, I am currently in the week that stinks. I have been over the top with watching what I eat and have been moving and grooving all over the place with more than enough physical activity. But the ol’ sugars are a bit up.

I know that in a weeks time, they will be back to “normal”. And I so think that this is directly related to my hormones, if you know what I mean? “I will remain calm and not throw my glucometer across the room”. That is what I keep repeating to myself when I see those stupid numbers pop up.

It is frustrating to have every resource at your fingertips, a heck of a lot of education on the subject and a major type A personality to boot! But tis’ life I guess. How have your sugars been? Does anyone else notice that your sugars are affected by your “cycle? I know what the research says and understand the literature, but I was wondering what your “real life” experiences have been?

  1. Marge says:

Eliminate all carbohydrates with the exception of veges (eat plenty), and you will eliminate the problem.
    It’s that simple.
But be sure to check in with you doctor since your meds will need adjustment.
    Good luck!

  2. Thanks Marge,

I have def cut down on carbs and will continue to do so, but I don’t take meds. Type 2 on no meds and they don’t want me take any, just diet and exercise. I think that is why it is frustrating, I have to control it and I am not succeeding this week and believe me I don’t like to fail!
