The Richmond Bridge is the oldest road bridge in Australia, built in 1823.  It was erected using convict laborers who hand built the four sandstone arched bridge spanning the Coal River on Tasmania, the Australian island south east of the mainland, or “Tassie” as it’s called by the locals.
