Everything you want to know about the history of Alzheimer’s Disease can be found at Michigan State University’s Kalamazoo Center for Medical Studies History of Alzheimer’s Disease website. They have put together an innovative course that provides historic context to the modern practice of medicine. The aim is to help students understand how Alzheimer’s disease was perceived, experienced, and treated throughout history.

The site also provides a long list of resources worth checking out.

This is a great resource, Liz. It’s information like this that I wish had been readily available when Mother and Auntie were afflicted with Alzheimer’s. It helps family members and caregivers so much to know more about the disease….also the victims themselves.
Wow. Really great web site with a lot of wonderful information. It’s things like these that go a long way to helping people learn about and understand Alzheimer’s at a much deeper level.
Thanks for stopping by and leaving your comments about Liz’s post of resources.
I agree that this history site is brilliant and not only for adults wanting to learn more. This site would be a perfect place to send a child who was doing a school project on Alzheimer’s.
Cheers,
liz
That’s a great idea…a resource for youngsters who are doing a school project or simply want to learn more about what’s happening to Grandpa or Grandma, Aunt Suzy or Uncle Bob.
