Home & Dining Channel: Offbeat Style, 4th Edition

I will finish all the Home & Dining ChannelOh yes, I will. At some point this week.

Here’s one of the final three amazing Home & Dining channel blogs that I haven’t discussed yet this week… (The “final three” — that makes me sound like I watch way too many Food Network challenges).

Cooking Gadgets is a little offbeat itself. I’m always finding kooky stuff there. Especially handy items for my son. If you have a child the Tre Bimbi Puppet Club Set will be right up your alley. It’s neat silverware that doubles as finger puppets. Arieanna finds cool items for adults too, such as the To-Go Ware Stainless Steel Lunch Box which doesn’t sound very exciting, there’s a million lunch boxes — but this one is so slick. You’ll actually want to carry it everywhere you go. I was thinking about “gadget” type structures that would be a good match for Cooking Gadgets and found this:

Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec

A pile of blankets? Not for the gadget and mechanically minded because you can take this pile of blankets and build…

Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec

Your very own, private, soft, thinking retreat. Not an entire structure per say, but such a cool concept. This structure,The Stitch Room is from Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec who create amazing pieces. If you haven’t heard of them I’d check out their site. The only issue with these designers is their sometime lack of earth friendly materials. On an Offbeat scale this is one of the tinier structures I’ve found but it is serene I like the earthy colors.

would you get a room like this? It was created as an art piece installation in the collective exhibition “MyHome” Vitra Design Museum, in Weil am Rhein, Switzerland. But it seems unlikely that one would use it as such. What do you think?

  1. It totally appeals to the kid in me, I love the idea of a small play-house sized space within a ‘regular’ room.

If it was reasonably priced, it would make a cool gift–you might feel silly buying it for yourself, but wouldn’t it be cool to have if someone gave you one?

And I’m like you, I love the colors.

This is a trip. I totally love this! Soooo much better than the soccer ball-patterned tent that I have to keep erecting for my children. Up down, up down. But I could leave THIS up forever.

Say, Jennifer, your ‘ol pal Liberty wouldn’t mind one of these for Navidad this year. Hook a sister up? ;)

I don’t know, the words, “Vitra Design Museum, in Weil am Rhein, Switzerland” are making me doubt that this is “reasonably” priced. I may look it up just for kicks but I’m guessing; more than a car. Lib, you’re gonna have to get rich being snarky and buy your own. I do agree that it’s a much more refined children’s tent than the typical blanket get-up you normally see. Also, next time I get new bedding — I want it in the blues and browns :)

Or maybe that’s more gray than blue? Hmmmm, I think it may be.
