Homemade Tile Backsplash

I have a small spot above my stove that really bugs me. For a while now I’ve been wanting to hang something up there and couldn’t figure out what. Then, I came across some Currier & Ives tiles (which you can see I got very cheaply at 25 cents each!) and a small wooden tray (which I picked up for 50 cents at a rummage sale). Add some glue to this mix and you have a brand new tile project for under $5. Here’s what I did.

I told six tiles and glued them (with epoxy) to the tray. I started in the middle and then added the tiles going out, to make sure they were somewhat even on each side. I set them out to dry and viola! A new tray.

I added a wire hanger to the back of the tile, and hung about my stove. Instant backsplash! The beauty of this project is that the tiles and tray are inexpensive, so if they get dirty it’s okay. Also, the tile makes it easy to clean.
