Hopia Dice from Eng Bee Tin

Aren’t these the cutest? I couldn’t resist. They’re the perfect little treats for not-so-perfect little girls who love hopia. Found them locally, imported from Eng Bee Tin Philippines.

I promised my 5-yo we’ll make this soon. Mooncake season is practically here — time to get out that recipe!

Mooncake molds available at the Wok Shop or at eBay. There’s a Malaysian gal there who sells mooncake molds sometimes, but as far as I know she only does it seasonally…

You’re a little late, Cholita.. and everyone else who commented. Not only was Stef, who wrote this article, replaced by Tom as writer last year… but the blog had gone on to exchange hands yet again just a few days ago.

hi all, this is stef, and you’re right, Chesu — I no longer write for this blog. however, you can come visit me at http://www.andtheseThygifts.com and we can talk hopia if you like.

just a clarification though, i DID NOT MAKE the hopia above and i am a long ways away from knowing how to make hopia dice.

i *DID* make hopia a few weeks ago that i haven’t blogged about yet, but i’m a beginner. my friends seemed to be happy about it and someone even commented that it’s just like the ones she loves at divisoria — since i don’t remember ever having any from there (not fresh anyway, we’ve only ever bought the packaged kind) i can’t say for sure how it is in terms of “authenticity”. but it *was* good enough for my hopia-loving kids.
