Hormonal breastfeeding mother stages yet another protest

I totally agree with a mother’s right to feed her child in public, however, I believe there are places that are reserved for this.  I believe this is more for their own personal safety than an expression of embarrassment or control.

When will these dramatic, attention seeking women realize that the biggest concern isn’t the fact that the majority of people do not see it as sexual, but why place yourself in visible light of those who might just be getting their rocks off on such a display?  Or worse yet, recording it.

And if that’s not enough, go to Craigslist.org and simply do a search from the sidebar in any given area and see what the simple search of lactating yields.

With the cell phones that people have these days – the capabilities to record any time and any place – do these breastfeeding mother’s wish to become a segment in some twisted effed up pervs private porn collection?

Think about it!

I breastfed all 3 of my kids. I never did it in a restaurant or really public place. In an emergency, I would sit in the car and shield myself, because I don’t feel my boobs are anyone else’s business.

Yep, I’m with Michelle on this. I know I am legally allowed to breastfeed anywhere, but just because I can, doesn’t mean I will. We had a brief stint in Canada when it was legal to be topless in public, I never participated in that, either.
It’s a matter of personal preference, of course, but I can’t help wondering if it’s an entitlement thing for some moms. There are alot of people out there that just like to exercize their rights, whether or not it’s their first choice. Use the topless law for example, all those women were fine wearing shirts for years and years, but when the new law passed, off come the shirts, just because they CAN.
Also, breasts are a sexual body part, granted. Some people DO get their rocks off watching a woman feed her baby. But there are also foot fetishists, who get off watching a woman walk in high heels. That doesn’t change people’s choice of footwear. Or any laws, for that matter.
People will always find SOMETHING to complain about, too. There will be people saying breastfeeding in public is offensive, and then there will be women saying it’s my right to feed my baby anywhere I like. You cant please EVERYONE.

Thanks for commenting – both of you. I think that’s exactly the words I was looking for – Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. :)
