How do You Celebrate?
November 17th is tomorrow…How do you celebrate National Adoption Day?
Courts all over the nation will be “devoting the entire day to finalizing thousands of adoptions.” If you want to take part call your local court house and find out if they will be participating in the National Adoption initiative and head over to congratulate families after their ceremonies.

National adoption day doesn’t really mean much for us. For one thing, being a busy, disorganized mom, I can never remember when it is! So we celebrate the days the kids came home. Fortunately, for those like me who are memory challenged, (I’ve been married to my husband since 1995 and I still have to think for about 5 minutes to tell you his birthday), my kids came home on St. Patrick’s Day and the Summer Solstice, respectively. Those, I can remember. So we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and the Solstice with Guatemalan food and music.
We celebrate on his adoption day, July 25 and try to go to the zoo every year. I am not sure how we will handle it once the baby comes home though…will we create one family day, aside from everything else?
We all celebrate both adoption days. More Guatemalan food for all!
What I like is that because we have been celebrating 2 adoption days per year for 7 years now, the staff at the local Guatemalan restaurant we always go to recognizes us. They always have compliments for our boys on how much they have grown, etc. It’s a low key celebration, but very important to us.
