How much do you spend on your kids during the holidays?
My boys are teens and everything they do seems to be pricey – that includes a trip to McDonalds where they will typically order a double quarter pounder meal with an extra sandwich and super size it.
When it comes to holiday wish lists, I sometimes feel their wishes are as big as their appetite.
I’ve always felt $100 – $150 each plus another $30 for stocking stuffers was sufficient, but with the advancements in technology and the “really awesome games” that keep coming out, I’m finding it more difficult to keep their wishes reigned in to a lesser dollar amount.
How much do you spend on your kids during the holidays? Are you cutting back this year and if so, do you worry if your kids will be disappointed?

I am definitely trying to cut back this year and it seems like most of the kids they hang out with are talking about getting less. I have two boys that are teens and close in age I have decided to get them the PS3 to share and 1 game each. Still pricey even though they have to share, but not a bad gift. My problem, one of them is not living at home, so not sure if it is really fair to him. Maybe it will give him incentive to do well where he lives and get more privileges to come home. The holidays feel even more stressful this year than last.
Every year we spend a max of 200 on the each person in the house that includes stocking stuffers. On a rare occasion we go over depending on the wish list and what the budget allows.
For us this year is no different. but this year the shopping will be a little different since my older two just want clothes, one wants texting the other wants his WOW account turned back on both are more depending on behavior more then money so not sure about those.
It does seem like Christmas mornings are getting smaller because the price of things keep going up more every year.
I’m keeping it under $200 per kid this year. I got them each on big gift, one video game, and some clothes.
This year I’ve actually kept it cheap, but with that being stated I hit the sales and got more for less. In total so far we’ve spent $250 for the four kids. But each kid has a TON of gifts, I have taken advantage of the amazon friday and monday sales. I mean just last week I bought a $34.99 gas pump from Little Tykes (I believe it was) for $6.99. You can’t beat that. I bought board games at $5, DVDs between $2-5, etc. I also got a Nerf dart thing my son wanted, on sale for $10. I’m loving this year, I’ll hit the day before Christmas sale for stocking stuffers.
