How Not To Cook Thanksgiving Dinner

Do wait until the last minute to buy your turkey. Make sure it’s frozen.
Don’t wake up early – the whole thing will come together in a few hours.
Do make sure you have lots of other things to do that day. Multi-tasking shouldn’t stop simply because a feast is on its way.
Don’t forget to hold off on buying the pan you need for your pumpkin cheese cake until the day of – the store is right around the corner.
Do just pop the turkey in the oven on a low heat “for a minute” while you pop out to the store for that cake pan.
Don’t be surprised when you come back and the turkey looks well done and is cold as ice.
Do briefly consider going out and buying another turkey. At 2pm.
Don’t forget to have a backup plan.
Which in this case…was pizza.

DO expect the turkey to defrost in the refrigerator within 36 hours.
Uh huh…and DON’T expect 4 hours floating in lukewarm water to equal the same amount of time.
Do have a good laugh at these kitchen disasters (this post is proof of your sense of humour! LOL).
We’ve all had dinners like these (I’ve definitely cried a couple times). *SIGH* Christmas can only be better, right?
We were supposed to go to my inlaws for Thanksgiving. But since I had a lot of work to do, we did a make shift Thanksgiving just the two of us. We bought already cooked/sliced turkey, Stove Top stuffing and gravy. We ate on paper plates in bed while watching TV. As long as I have stuffing for Thanksgiving, I’m good.
Sorry about the turkey disaster, Rachel. Was the pizza good?
@Jeanne – hehe, I try…all I kept thinking was “well, I can always try again for Christmas..”
@Kori – The pizza was DELICIOUS – but I did miss the apple rye stuffing that I was looking forward to! I considered attempting the rest of the meal but having Adam bring home a roasted chicken from the store…but the frozen bird sitting on my stove made me cranky and pizza was the only solution.
I’ve never done a Thanksgiving dinner in my life and I’ve always sworn that if I ever do I’ll have to get one of those pre-cooked turkeys like Kori mentioned in order to keep my stress levels down.
Luckily my mother-in-law insists on doing Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners herself so I’m safe for now!
