How to: Dreamcatcher
Because this coming Friday is Native American Day I thought it would be appropriate to link to how to make a Dreamcatcher. For those children who have trouble sleeping this could help, as Dreamcatchers are said to catch the good dreams and let the bad ones all through the web.
To make a Dreamcatcher head to Kinderart, one of my favorite new sites for crafts.
You will need:
* Paper Twist 4 1/2 Wide 6 Yds White
* Budget Yarn Pack
* TLC Cotton Plus Yarn-White
* Pound O’ Beads Colossal 1 Pound Bag/Multi Color
* Long Marabou Feathers 1/4 Ounce-Pastels

I think it’s a wonderful idea to teach a group of children how to make a dreamcatcher! I was always told that the dreamcatcher will catch all of your bad dreams and nightmares and make them slide away on the feather; so a shy child who might never tell anyone about their bad dreams would find faith and relief in this exercise!
(I myself was an extremely shy child – although not bothered with nightmares – but as you can see, I turned into a highly communicative adult! I think art and poetry played a large part in this and I am so grateful for the teachers who guided and encouraged me, as you are now doing with others.)
