how-to of the day: easy embroidered felt Easter egg ornaments

I know that this project is a little late, seeing as it’s the Easter weekend already, but you’ve still got a couple of days!
To begin, cut egg shapes out of different colored felt – these ones are approximately two inches wide:

Place them on a second piece of felt, but don’t cut it out. Instead embroider across the eggs, using decorative stitches:

I used plain sewing machine thread and several different stitches on this egg. Stitch around the edge (use a straight stitch for this one) and cut out the egg. I used used pinking shears to add another decorative element. Stitch a piece of ribbon onto the top of the Easter egg as a hanger:

But what happens if your machine doesn’t have pre-programmed embroidery stitches?

A plain & simple zig-zag stitch works beautifully for this project too! I used three shades of varigated machine embroidery thread and worked zig-zags across the egg. Finish it the same way as the other eggs.

One of my friends puts up an Easter tree every year. These will be just the perfect gift for her. I think I can get two or three done today.
I’m off to sew!
Thanks for sharing.
Is verys good!
