I Just wanted to fix it…

So do you ever start out the day with intentions of getting things done to bless the others around you and have the day go foul?

This morning I got up with full intentions of curing a problem in our upstairs bathroom.  Now after I’m done with it, it is further from being fixed.  That seems how it is going right now.   When I laid the task aside after breakfast, I have one of the toilets in pieces.  The tank laying on its side on the floor.  The tank bolts and gasket are on the vanity counter.  The bowl is still bolted to the floor, but will have to come up.

All I wanted to do was replace the gasket and bolts that connect the tank to the bowl!

Water leaked from another seal once I bolted it all together and now the base seems loose and I don’t want to go further without replacing the wax ring and floor bolts as well as the down tube gasket.  I can’t get the parts to finish the task because I can’t go to the store.

So I want to walk away in frustration.  The toilet is not fixed and it still has a foul odor in that bathroom.   No one has used it either.

This is also an analogy of my day and relations with Marye.

Though with fully good intentions and in good spirits the day started out.  By mid morning it seems I have turned our domicile into a stinking mess.

It appears I was short with one of the boys when he asked for the next thing he had to do for school.  He hadn’t finished and let me check his handwriting I asked him to redo.   He then wanted to go on to his math.  I told him He would get his math when he finished what I already told him to do and the downward spiral seemed imminent.

On a good note, the chimney is closed in at the top again before any bad weather rolls in and rains in the fireplace.   Nick fixed his “L’s” in his handwriting and the rest of his schoolwork is done.  Ethan’s daily math work is improving.  I haven’t lost my temper or my sanity.

And best of all I’m married to Marye!

Sounds like my typical day. Yeah, as far as the loo goes, its best to replace ALL parts as the corrosive nature of bleach and lord knows what all they put in the water, along with minerals, etc tend to corrode everything and leave a build-up. Cleaning with turpentine or acetone is also a pre requisite before putting any kind of gaskets or seals as…well, I don’t need to tell you all this…

One of my kids has ADD ( Hyperactive variety ) and your scenario of not finishing all of one assignment before moving on would be heaven to me in comparison…. if it were only that easy.
