I Must Shave My Legs: The OCD Miniseries

February’s meeting of my NAMI affiliate group covered obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). So many interesting points were covered during the meeting that there’s no way I could cover it all in one Mental Health Notes post, like I promised; therefore, I’ve decided to do a sort of “OCD miniseries” – exciting, right?
Thanks to my own “touch of OCD” diagnosis, I’ve mapped out the OCD miniseries for you. Who knows? You may appreciate such organization, too.
Over the next several days, you can expect to find:
- OCD defined, including signs and symptoms.
- Information about the obsession part of OCD.
- Information about the compulsion part of OCD.
- Causes of and risk factors for OCD.
- The importance of seeking medical advice, and OCD screening and diagnosis information.
- Treatment and management options for OCD.
- Complications that arise when OCD is left untreated/unmanaged.
- Famous folk with OCD.
So, stay tuned and feel free to chime in with your own experiences along the way!
