I Tried the New All-Natural Sweetener Called Truvia

Have you heard about the all-natural, zero calorie sweetener called Truvia?

Truvia is a new sweetener, made with rebiana, which is a part of a Stevia plant leaf.  The process they use to make the sweetener is similar to making a tea.  The leaf is picked and dried, then it is steeped in water. The result of the “tea” is a crystalized sweetener. The rebiana is a better-tasting part of the Stevia plant.

Truvia is available in packets printed with food grade inks. Each packet is equal the the same sweetness as two teaspoons of sugar. It’s kosher certified (Parve cirle U) and is suitable for people with diabetes.

I’ve been using it in my tea and coffee all week. I found the taste to be similar to Splenda. It’s sweet, but not overpowering. My tea still tastes like tea, just enhanced a bit.

If you’d like to try some recipes featuring Truvia, you can find them here.

    Why not just use Stevia?

  2. Michelle says:

Well, I used the Truvia because that’s what they sent me to review. ;D

It’s supposed to have a better taste than the Stevia.

I currently use Stevia Extract in the Raw… and absolutely love the taste of it : ) I hate Truvia! I haven’t heard good things about that product. I tried it once and it had an awful after taste…If you can’t find Stevia Extract in the Raw at your local grocery store, you can buy it online. Check out their site – http://www.steviaextractintheraw.com
It’s all natural – why not give it a try?

  4. Michelle says:

Truvia is Stevia – it’s made from the plant – and it is all natural.

My whole family has been using it for a few weeks now and no one who has tried it in our house has complained about an aftertaste.

    Thanks for your input, Jennifer.
