I Want More, Please!

January 17, 2008 by Heather Goldsmith

I’ve been searching online recently for good images to use for my collages, but I’m after ones that are free of all copyright restrictions. I know I can purchase some of these from scrapbook stores, but I’m after images I don’t have to pay for. I want free ones. I did find a Flickr group with collage images I can use, but you must be a member of the group, so I joined. And I didn’t find much more. Thing is, I want more, please!

Do you know of any good online resources for the type of images I mean? Please share in the comments section below, so I can pass on the info to everyone else.

I had a post on my blog with a lot of links for copyright free images. But that was before my blog died and so the post is lost now. But I will try to find my notes from when I made that post I’ll repost it, so look for it next week.

  2. Hi Zura,
Thank you so much. I would really appreciate it, and so would my readers, your’s too, I imagine. Thanks. ;-)

    Hey Heather-

I’m a friend of Zura’s, who recommended your blog. I LOVE your Freaky Friday ideas. I was just thinking how powerful it would be to be the mean girl. I’m not sure I could pull it off without dissolving into a blob of 14-ness, but dang, what a powerful way to release some of that anger towards those girls.

Ok, here’s another pool to try at Flickr:
    http://www.flickr.com/groups/creativegifts/

It’s just called the Ephemera Pool, but it has over 15,000 images.

Also, check out this site: http://yotophoto.com/. It’s a search engine for free-to-use images. Basically, it scours the web (and mostly Flickr, I’ve noticed, and some stock image sites) for images that have a Creative Commons license, one that specifies it’s ok to use the image, for free. Some may have credit requirements, but that’s usually it. I have found just TONS of images that way, and it’s a great resource if you want modern images instead of vintage ones.

And then, here’s a couple of my favorites for public domain (aka vintage images):

    http://karenswhimsy.com/public-domain-images/

    Hope these help!

  4. Hi Kristina,
Wow, thanks so much for all those links. I think I’ll need to make an ammended entry about all this, just so no one misses it all. ;-)

Lol, I really enjoyed writing my version of this particular Freaky Friday journal writing exercise. ;-)
