I’d say he’s doing well at the moment

I called my dad this morning, and, he wasn’t home.

If you haven’t figured it out yet, I’m a bit of a worrier. It’s just what I do.

Now, logically, I knew he was out doing something, and, there was nothing wrong, but, I continued to fret, anyway. Yes, he has finally learned to carry his cell phone, but, we’re still working on the “turn it on” part.

He eventually got home and returned my call, and, I learned he had been out to breakfast, had tried to go to the cemetery to see my uncle’s headstone that just came in, but, he (my dad, not my uncle) kept running into the local marathon going on, so he gave up, and, went home.

He paid some bills, and, went back to the cemetery later, but, had come home to get ready to go out to lunch with some friends, and, tonight he’s going to the prom (he’s a high school teacher).

I know he’d give it all up to have my mother back, but, we have certainly come a long way since about this time last year when he couldn’t really leave the house, except for work, because my mother needed someone with her at all times, and, there was a time last fall when we weren’t sure if he’d ever walk again without pain.
