Idaho To Get Solar Test Plant?

There are plans of having a solar power system built in North Idaho’s Rathdrum area. This plan is a joint venture of Avista Utilities as well as a new company from San Francisco, GreenVolts Inc. They say that if this plan does push through, it could actually help give more power to those who live in the area.

Ed Caferro, one CEO, did mention that although such a plant may only be a prototype, it could still help the residents of the area. After all, they are looking at an estimated 2.4 kilowatts. Although that is just enough to power two houses, it still would be helpful in providing the community the knowledge of just how much you can save when you use clean energy like solar power.

Hugh Imhof is the spokesperson for Avista and he shares, “It sounds like a very promising technology. We think it can actually be competitive with some other forms of energy. We like them so well that we’re actually investing in the company; we think it has that much potential.”
