Idea for a Quick Scenic Quilt

As I browsed the newsletter from Snowy River Quilts, I found a really fun idea for a colorful quilt that you can make quickly.  The specific directions weren’t there, but from the picture, you can use your imagination.

By using scenic fabrics, you can combine them to create a 3 x 3 block quilt.  These patterns they suggested consisted of sky and mountain pictures, as well as those with details of trees and bears, and a river or lake with fish.

Details weren’t given regarding the size of the blocks, but this would depend on the nature of the design and the quilt you wanted to make, whether it is a bed quilt or a wall hanging.  You also could do this with other types of fabric, simply by using colorful scenics or abstracts, even some of different textures.

It doesn’t appear to need any piecing of the blocks, simply cutting out the desired scenes, putting them together with strips and placing a border around it.

Enjoy!  And let me know what you create.
