If Advice Worked

“If advice worked, nobody would get to A.A.”
That’s part of what today’s Daily Reflection says. Think about it – how many times did someone in a gin mill (bar for you young’un’s) offer you and I this;
- Switch to… blah, blah, blah – if you only drank __ you wouldn’t get drunk…
- Use your willpower. Certainly you can decide you can just stop drinking, right? Just put it down…
- Come on man – your wife is going to leave you if you don’t stop!
- Didn’t your boss tell you not to drive the company car under the influence again, or else?
And then you simply stopped eh? Not…
“All I have to do is show what has brought me sobriety and what has changed my life. If I fail to stress the spiritual feature of A.A.’s program, I am being dishonest.”
If your belly barometer just went off after that statement (mine didn’t) you might seriously consider fetching yourself up sharply to have a long talk with your sponsor… (keep smiling).
“The newcomer should not be given a false impression of sobriety. I am sober only through the grace of my Higher Power, and that makes it possible for me to share with others.”
“When I decided to go to A.A., blah, blah, blah” – BS!!!

Stress The Spiritual Feature Freely
“The main thing is that he be willing to believe in a Power greater than himself and that he live by spiritual principles.”
“Then the eyes of the blind will be opened,
and the ears of the deaf unstopped;
the crippled will leap up like a deer,
and those whose tongues could not speak
will sing for joy.”
Isaiah 35:5-6
