If Humor Is the Cornerstone of a Strong Marriage…

… then we’re in great shape. Check out this phone conversation my husband and I had today. Can you believe we haven’t even been married 4 years yet?

Him: Can you do something for me?

Me: Sure, what?

Him: It means you have to get up.

Me: Okay, what?

Him: Go in the kitchen and get the iced tea container out of the fridge.

Me: Okaaaaaaay… (walking)

Me: Got it.

Him: Dump out the iced tea.

Me: Um, okay…

Him: Wait, first, is it a gallon container?

Me: I have no idea.

Him: Well can you LOOK?

Me: I AM looking. I have no idea.

Him: Does it say it?

Me: Let me check the bottom. Crap, there’s iced tea dripping all over my arm.

Him: (laughing)

Me: No, it doesn’t say.

Him: Do we have any OTHER gallon containers?

Me: Not unless you bought one recently.

Him: Okay well dump out the iced tea.

Me: Okay.

Him: Do you have something you can time with?

Me: Um, like my watch?

Him: No, like to time something for how long it takes.

Me: I can COUNT.

Him: Use the second hand on your watch.

Me: My watch doesn’t have a second hand.

Him: You need to get rid of that crap watch.

Me: This is the watch you bought me for our anniversary.

Him: Oh, um, well use the microwave.

Me: For WHAT?

Him: Put the container in the sink and put the water on full blast and see how long it takes.

Me: The microwave counts DOWN, not up.

Him: Set it for three minutes and see how long it takes.

Here, as I was retelling the story moments ago, a friend interrupted to ask, “What does your husband do for a living?” I responded, “Apparently he calls me while I’m working and tries to see how much stupid stuff he can get me to do.”

No, so long story short, it takes 50 seconds for our sink to fill what may or may not be a gallon container on cold water only.

And he just walked in, so I have no idea why I did this since he was like 5 minutes away. “Why? Because it saved me time and now I can go figure something else out,” he says.

Oh, silly me.
